Having an Aesthetics Treatment for the First Time
If you're new to non-surgical aesthetics treatments, you might be feeling a little apprehensive and have a lot of questions - and that's completely ok. In this blog, we've laid out what you can expect at an aesthetics consultation at Private Harley Street Clinic. Remember, there's absolutely never an obligation to commit to a treatment when you come in - we understand that not everyone who is curious about treatments is ready for them yet and we want to help you make the decision that's right for you.
Our initial consultations are 45 minutes, which allows for plenty of time to talk through what your options are, with time left over for any treatments you might decide on on the day. It's an in depth chat starting with why you've come to see us and which areas you're feeling concerned about. We'll be talking about:
Safety First - Your Medical History
We want to make sure that any treatments we suggest are safe for you, so it's really important for your practitioner to take a detailed medical history from you, including any relevant medical conditions, past illnesses or diseases you may have. We'll also need to know about medications you are taking, or have taken recently, as well as allergies you might have. We also need to know what, if any, treatments you've had elsewhere in the past, and what you liked or disliked about the results.
How Can We Help - Your Expected Outcome
It's vital that we understand what you're hoping to achieve with your chosen treatment so we can advise which treatment is most appropriate and what results you can expect to see. Once we know which areas you're feeling concerned about, and why, your practitioner can then suggest a variety of treatment options and describe the process, outcomes and costs involved. We want you to be fully aware of what changes you'll expect to see, how long the results will last for and how much the procedure costs before making any decisions.
The Bigger Picture - A Detailed Skin Analysis
The treatments we provide in clinic are an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to skincare, but they're certainly not the only one. By looking at your skin in detail, we can develop a treatment care plan that is bespoke to your specific needs. The results may reveal that treatments, such as chemical skin peels or radiofrequency treatment for example, are more suited to your skin than Botox or Filler, or may be used to complement your Injectable treatment. We will also advise of the best way of caring for your particular skin type and recommend topical solutions to be used as part of your daily routine to maximise your treatment results.
Fully Informed - Potential Risks and Side-Effects
It’s important you are aware of any contraindications, risks and side-effects of before having treatment, and we'll discuss these with you at your appointment. Although the treatments we use are incredibly safe and thoroughly tested, there are always some small risks to be aware of, as with any medical procedure.
Aftercare Advice - What Happens After Treatments
You will be advised on what you should do to ensure your treatment is as effective as possible, as well as any short-term effects you might notice in the hours directly after your treatment, such as some localised swelling or redness. We'll make sure you know what to expect and when to get in touch if you have any concerns of questions.
Just Ask - The Opportunity to Ask Questions
Throughout the consultation, you will be given ample opportunity to ask any questions and share any worries you have about the treatment. Our practitioners are all highly trained with years of experience, so we'll always give you the best advice - there's no such thing as a silly question.
Pause for Thought - Time to Make a Decision
You should be given enough time to digest the information you’ve been given. You need to make a considered decision about whether the treatment is right for you. Once you have had your consultation, you will received your bespoke treatment plan with all treatments listed in details, including costs.
If, after your consultation, you decide you'd like to go ahead with a treatment, your practitioner will, in most cases, be able to administer your treatment on the day. If there's not enough time to complete the treatment (for example, in the case of some more in depth technology treatments) we can book you in at a time that suits you.
If you've booked your treatment and you're wondering what to expect on the day, read our blog on Preparing for Your Aesthetics Treatment for more information, or get in touch with one of our helpful team.
