SKIN LAXITY + LOSS OF VOLUME

Skin Laxity and Loss of Volume are natural changes that occur as we age. Skin tightness relies on collagen and elastin, which are two components of the deep layer of the skin that lessen as we get older. In addition, loss of fat and bone density in the face, combined with UV damage and hormonal changes, result in lost volume.

What causes Loss of Volume and Skin Laxity?

Collagen and elastin are two components of our skin found in the deep layer of the skin called the dermis, just above the fat layer which lies beneath our skin. As we approach our 40s, our collagen levels are reduced significantly – stopping our skin feeling tight and springy and leading to visible heaviness, folds and sagging. Skin sagging is also caused by loss of facial volume, which is also a normal sign of aging, and this is why these issues and their treatments go hand in hand.

Expert Insight:

"A normal and natural part of the aging process is our faces losing some of their volume and our skin feeling and looking less tight. If you're worried about sagging and heaviness caused by loss of volume, there are excellent treatments available to tighten, lift and sculpt facial skin for a fresher and more youthful appearance, with long-lasting results. Booking an in-clinic consultation is the best way to start exploring what treatments are suitable for you with one of our advanced nurse practitioners. "
