Private Harley Street Clinic
The Private Harley Street Clinic is the world’s leading DNA analysis clinic. Our medical director is Dr Mark Ali, whose lifelong interest in molecular biology started in 1986 when he completed an Honours degree in Molecular biology at University College, London. Our consultant clinical geneticist, Dr James Mackay, is a senior lecturer in Molecular Biology at University College Hospital. Dr Mackay's clinical interests include the application of complex genome sequencing diagnostics.
We are unique in that we offer the very latest whole genome DNA sequencing using the state of the art NovaSeq6000 technology and we guide you through the process with consultant physician pre-test advice as well as having access to specialist consultant geneticist follow up.
Whole genome DNA analysis is a gamechanger in the field of preventative medicine. Now, a bespoke roadmap can be created for each client which allows us to potentially predict and preempt disease as never before, and to fine-tune the necessity for any further investigations.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
Over the last thirty years, the field has grown rapidly, particularly latterly with the advances of robotics and Artificial intelligence. DNA whole genome analysis is a groundbreaking new diagnostic tool, that allows patients to access their genetic predisposition to the disease. This information was hitherto inaccessible and it now allows a patient to engage in their health and their future.
By 2025, 25% of the world’s population will use their DNA to make educated decisions about their health.
Scientific research on the meaning and clinical impact of DNA mutations is exploding at an exponential rate. Meanwhile, the technology of DNA sequencing has also progressed rapidly, meaning that we are now able to analyze all 22,000 human genes using a technology called whole-exome sequencing. This is significantly more powerful than other tests like 23andMe that only look at DNA in a few places.
This detailed information is then matched with the latest scientific data to produce a comprehensive report, examining all 1,000 cancer genesis and every other known pathogenic mutation, compared to a typical DNA test which just looks at 30-70 cancer genes.
Typically, each study reveals about 5 pathogenic mutations meaning that approximately 50% of patients receive a life-changing discovery by identifying your risk for 1000’s of diseases including heart disease, cancer, and stroke.
WHY SHOULD I DO THIS? - KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR GENETIC BLUEPRINT IS POWER:
- Prevent and mitigate health risks
- Learn which medication and what dose is best for you
- Optimise your diet and exercise
- Engage in your health and your future, day to day and long term
- Understand the roadmap of what lies ahead for you and your health
