Our Approach to Cheek Filler at Private Harley Street Clinic

Dermal fillers, cheek fillers in particular, are a mixture of medical procedure and art form. We've collected the wisdom of our Expert Medical Practitioners and answered your questions about cheek fillers...

How Do Cheek Fillers Work?

Cheek fillers, like all modern fillers, are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in your body. Hyaluronic acid attracts and retains water, so it's the ideal substance for creating temporary, subtle changes to the shape of your cheeks. Fillers are used in different quantities and viscosities to achieve various aesthetic outcomes; the filler we use on the cheek bones is a dense filler placed deep on top of bone, to mimic natural bone structure.

How Long Do Cheek Fillers Last?

How long your dermal fillers will last depends a bit on your individual metabolism, however we normally recommend coming back to have your filler treatment refreshed after  6 - 12 months. It's always a good idea to have another in depth consultation at this time - to decide whether you'd like to repeat your previous treatment, or whether there's something else that might be more suitable.

Do Cheek Fillers Hurt?

You'll feel a tiny sting when the needle enters the skin, as with any injection, but many of the fillers we use in the clinic contain a local anaesthetic, which quickly works on the area to make you more comfortable. If you're especially concerned about discomfort, let us know in advance and we can discuss other options to make you more comfortable, such as medication or numbing creams.

Why Do Practitioners Use a Cannula?

A cannula may be used when having filler injected into the softer tissues lower down the cheeks. Its blunt end glides easily through tissue and poses no risk to blood vessels, and allows the practitioner to spread the filler out under the skin.

What Makes Our Approach Unique?

We take a holistic approach to administering cheek filler treatments, understanding exactly what each patient is trying to achieve; whether they're looking to replace volume lost to age and restore their natural look, or whether they're looking to achieve a subtle change or enhancement.

Rather than load the lower face with filler to cover nasolabial folds at any cost, we prefer to subtly lift and elevate from the cheekbones, lightening lower face heaviness without adding volume where it would not naturally sit. We always aim to achieve beautiful results that look entirely subtle and natural.
